Maintenance

Like everything on board a ship aluminium windows also require some maintenance. Both the anodised profiles and the colour coated profiles must be cleansed several times a year. How often this is necessary is very dependent on where your ship is lying.

The best thing is to compare the maintenance of your windows to that of your car. The oftener you wash and wax it, the longer it lasts and the better it looks.

It is sensible first to rinse the windows thoroughly with water; you thus first wash sand particles off the window and they cannot cause scratches during a more thorough cleaning. You can clean anodised aluminium with lukewarm water. If you use a cleaning agent, make sure that this is a neutral, synthetic and non-abrasive cleaning agent.
