Prestige portholes

General A main attractive point about our Prestige portholes is that the opening section inherently stays open in any position between 0 and 180º. This invention has been patented by us (patent pending). In normal use the vent can be opened and closed around 10,000 times, without detriment to the friction mechanism built into the hinges. Our product distinguishes itself further in the choice of wing nuts through which the closure of the port matches in with the aluminium frame.

Implementation Prestige portholes are manufactured as standard from anodised aluminium and fitted with 8 mm thick acrylic. The plastic pane is surrounded by an aluminium frame.

Options

  • With four rounded corners or with two rounded corners (oval)

  • Coated in a RAL colour.

  • Acrylic clear, bronze or green tinted.

  • Fly screen.

  • Rain hood. Available separately, but only usable in combination with the fly screen.

Measurements See the price list for the available measurements. The rounded corners and general dimensions are the same as those of a known supplier in Almere so that our portholes can be used an an alternative without having to modify the openings in the ship.

Mounting The portholes can be mounted in a wall of thickness between 4 and 22 mm. The wall must be flat to prevent leakage. A deviation of up to 1 mm is acceptable.

Application Our Prestige portholes are CE-certified by the Dutch Certification Institute (DCI). They meet the requirements of the NEN-EN-ISO 12216 standard.

  • Design category A (Ocean suitable) up to a maximum hull length of 24 metres.

  • Mounting in area I (the starboard and port side of the hull) provided the bottom edge of the porthole is at least 200 mm above water level.

  • For application in design category A and B the porthole may not stick out beyond the imaginary plumb-line of the hull. Under these circumstances the port must be built in recessed. The sketch below clarifies this.
